THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE

As a proud partner of the Goulburn Valley community, The University of Melbourne is delighted to again sponsor the SheppARTon Festival.

The Goulburn Valley is a focus of the University of Melbourne’s Knowledge Transfer and Partnership activities as it is one of its larger collective groups of programs and activities operating in the region. The University's Goulburn Valley Partnerships cover areas including health, Indigenous programs, education, and land and environments.

The University of Melbourne has proudly partnered with the SheppARTon Festival for a number of years as it is an ideal forum for supporting the artistic and cultural life of the Goulburn Valley. The 2010 festival theme ‘Inspired’ is particularly relevant for the Goulburn Valley and the University as we seek to use our innovation and creativity to address pressing issues and prosper in challenging times. The theme also meets our desire to celebrate diversity as a strength of Australian society.

The University greatly appreciates the incredible work of the organising committee, the Friends of SheppARTon Festival, and the volunteers and supporters who work so hard to provide such a valuable and enjoyable contribution to the Goulburn Valley community.

In 2009 the University of Melbourne launched the Murrup Barak Institute for Indigenous Development to provide greater opportunities for partnership around issues of health, wellbeing, education and culture. We are excited about the involvement of the Institute state-wide and nationally, but particularly in the Goulburn Valley where it provides greater focus for the Indigenous programs that the University and the Shepparton community support now, and in the future
