Sponsors and partners in 2008
Naming Rights Partner
THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
The SheppARTon Festival is delighted that 2008 marks the beginning of the new term of a three year partnership with the University of Melbourne. As a public-spirited institution, the University values this partnership, which provides a superb opportunity to further strengthen its ties and extend collaborations within the Goulburn Valley community.
In 2007 the University has begun the implementation of Growing Esteem, a new strategic direction for the University, which incorporates three interactive strands of teaching and learning, research, and knowledge transfer. The third strand, knowledge transfer, shapes the University’s external engagement in communities in an active, two-way interaction where the benefits are enjoyed by both the University and the wider community.
In the Goulburn Valley the focus of this engagement is on health, land and food, Indigenous education and community partnerships and the Arts Festival sponsorship clearly resonates with this agenda. The 2007 Festival theme of ‘Common Ground’ was particularly relevant, as a healthy community encompasses the well-being of the diversity of backgrounds that make up the population of the region.
The University of Melbourne values its commitment to arts, culture and diversity and hopes both the participants and the audience sample and enjoy the broad range of activities and experiences offered by the Festival. The organising committee and volunteers deserve our ‘thanks’ for their hard work and support in providing such a valuable celebration for the community!
