2008 SheppARTon Festival: Freshwater

4th - 16th March

The SheppARTon Festival is now in its 12th year and has become an iconic event in the Greater Shepparton area. The festival board has had a busy period since the end of the 2007 festival, planning for this year’s event. Special thanks go to all those involved, in particular artistic director Rob Robson and festival co-ordinator Liz Zito for their hard work and vision. I also thank the sponsors for their continued support.

The theme of this year’s festival is “FRESHwater”. Water is the life blood of the Goulburn Valley and the past few dry years have highlighted the essential nature of this in our lives. The cover artwork of the 2008 festival program is an artist’s impression, from the air, of the rivers and channels that transport this precious resource through the region.
I strongly encourage everyone to get involved in the festival. There are events in the program to cater to a wide variety of tastes and budgets. There is nothing quite like the experience of a really challenging work of art. The Shepparton Festival provides the opportunity to see local and international artists, who love bringing their talents to a country audience. The more we think, the more we are.

So make some plans, gather some friends, and if you are travelling to join with us in the celebrations book some accommodation at the Visitor Information Centre on 1800 808 839. I look forward to seeing you there!
