2009 SheppARTon Festival: New Horizons
in partnership with the University of Melbourne
5 - 15 March 2009
The slight cooling of the weather, the latter stages of the pear and peach harvest, hope for a good autumn break; March in the Goulburn Valley also means the SheppARTon Festival, now in its 13th year. Each festival is a collection of artistic works, but also an expression of who we are and what we think. In partnership with the University of Melbourne, the 2009 SheppARTon Festival has been primed with acts encompassing many art forms, from music to visual art to theatre. Artistic Director, John Head, has been applying his considerably original mind to New Horizons: the COMMUNITY Event, supported by Festivals Australia. This is a joint effort among local artists,and will be featured at the Twilight Festival on the Saturday of the long weekend.
Thanks to all the sponsors who make it happen from a financial perspective, and in a difficult environment we appreciate their generosity. A big note of gratitude also goes to the Friends of the Festival.
The theme of this year’s festival is New Horizons. We live together in a landscape with unencumbered views of the horizon, a limitless sky with limitless possibilities. The festival is a chance for us to use art to explore common challenges of a new future, with the hope of new horizons.
